Saturday was a busy sewing day for me, I was so thankful to be able to sit down and sew for a large chunk of time! I got a lot done, and it felt great.
One of the things I made was a purse for my friend, Colleen. She picked out the fabrics herself, and I made sure to get all the pockets, etc., that she wanted. I even added a little loop of fabric to hook her keys off of!
I also worked on some pouches using my new free motion quilting technique. I made three identical pouches, 2 as gifts and 1 for sale in my shop. I love the Joel Dewberry fabric I used, and the brown thread added a nice touch, I think! The first two pictures show the large block of fabric that I quilted first and then cut up into the pouches.
I suppose the correct name for the technique I use is stipple quilting, where the line does not cross itself - if you look closely you can see that it is one continuous line. Do any of you quilters out there know if stippling is the right term?

i love the fabric in the one for your friend - green and white etc - so fresh!! i do believe you say 'stippling' for that technique - don't have to say stipple quilting.
:0
good job, btw - what foot did you use? and how thick of a batting?
thanks cory! i come from an art world and stippling means a series of small dots that form a pictures... so i was afraid to use it just like that :) funny how the same word can mean two different things!
i actually have a quilting foot that came with my machine, it works very nicely. it has a spring on it to keep the tension nice. the other thing i have are these purple gloves, griparoos, that have little rubber dots on the fingers to use to grip the fabric better. they helped a ton!
the fleece interfacing i used is fairly lightweight. it's the same that i use in my pouches and bags normally.
Erin, those are so beautiful! You are very talented.
Love these! The fabrics on both are so gorgeous! Would love to learn how to free motion quilt...
So beautiful and fresh! Thank you for sharing. :)
Yaaay, those are wonderful. I've been also getting ready to make a pouch - crocheted one probably. I love pouches!!! :) Have a wonderful day. Petra
love the new technique on the pouches! looks great :)
I love that quilting foot! It's so fun! Great job with the free motion or whatever it's called. =) I also love your new bag...I need to get working on my new bag this week. It will be my happy birthday to me treat. =)
Love the bag! And the pouches, too. And yes, stippling is what that technique is called... isn't it fun to do? And it looks great, too!
Beautiful! So well done. You know I love your work and your fabrics are always stunning.
I cheated and looked at your blog before seeing the purse in person. I'm so excited. Looks great.
PS. Are there special washing instructions for the purse or the other things you make?
I love the little pouch too.
